Sandown Town Council and Sandown Beach Lifeguards are committed to making the beach accessible for everyone. Our free‑to‑hire all‑terrain beach‑friendly wheelchairs make it easier for visitors of all ages to enjoy the beach — from rolling across soft sand to reaching the water’s edge (depending on tide and conditions). They offer comfort, confidence, and independence for disabled visitors, older adults, and anyone with limited mobility.

🕒 Availability & Hire Times Book online year‑round to secure your preferred time. Beach wheelchairs are available to hire between 11am and 6pm. • First come, first served • For use within the lifeguard‑patrolled area • Collected from the Lifeguard Tower. If a wheelchair is required over a weekend outside of the main season, collection will be arranged for Friday, with return on Monday, ensuring continued access even when staffing levels are reduced.

🌅 Extra Accessibility Support During busy periods, beach matting is installed to create a firmer, more stable route across the sand, helping wheelchair users, families with buggies, and anyone who finds soft sand difficult.
